Essential Setup Checklist

Checklist

Before launching your Facebook Ads, make sure you complete these critical steps. This checklist helps prevent common setup issues that cause missing events or failed tracking.

Step 1: Facebook Asset Setup

  • Create a Facebook Pixel
Go to Meta Events Manager → Create a new Pixel (if you don’t have one)

  • Create a Dataset
You’ll use this for server-side tracking (CAPI). Save your Access Token from the Dataset settings

  • Verify Your Domain
Go to Business Settings → Brand Safety → Domains → Add and verify your Shopify domain

  • Set Up Aggregated Event Measurement
Still in Events Manager, configure up to 8 prioritized events (including Purchase, ViewContent, etc.) to comply with iOS14+

Step 2: Connect Facebook to Appeasy Facebook Pixel & CAPI

  • Turn on App Embed in Shopify Theme
Go to Online Store → Themes → Customize → App Embed → Toggle Facebook Pixel & CAPI ON. This allows events to be tracked on your storefront

  • Add Pixel ID & Access Token
Open app → Go to Create pixel → Enter your Facebook Pixel ID and Access Token

  • Use the Live (Published) Theme
Pixel tracking works only on the currently published theme

  • Avoid Duplicate Pixels
Disable the native Facebook & Instagram app or any other Facebook tracking tools to prevent duplicate events

Step 3: Test Your Tracking

  • Open Meta Events Manager → Test Events Tab
Select your Pixel/Dataset and open your store in a new tab

  • Trigger Events
Visit a product page → Add to Cart → Go to Checkout (test mode). You should see View content, Add to cart, and Purchase events

  • Confirm Real-Time Tracking
Events should appear live in Events Manager (browser + server-side). If not, double-check App Embed, credentials, and theme status

Events may take up to 30–60 seconds to appear, especially server-side (CAPI)

You're Ready to Launch

If you’ve completed every item on this list, your Facebook tracking setup is now ready to capture data reliably — both from browsers and server-side (CAPI).
